It's Up to You: A Practice to Change Your Life by Changing Your Mind

Karen Casey

Show Description:
"It's Up to You: A Practice to Change Your Life by Changing Your Mind", with author Karen Casey

Seven morning and evening practices to revolutionize your life.
This small book will change everything if you let it. It's Up to You is based on the twelve principles in Casey's Change Your Mind and Your Life Will Follow: tending to our own gardens, focusing on solutions not problems, letting go of preconceived solutions, changing our minds, acting instead of reacting, giving up judgments, giving up trying to control, discovering our own lessons, doing no harm, quieting our minds, treating every encounter as the holy, and discerning our mind's own truth.
It's Up to You invites readers to do three simple things: meditate, pay attention, and make choices to change their lives--for a few minutes each morning and evening, one principle a week for twelve weeks. As we reflect on Casey's insight into the insidious ways we create misery or drama, try to impose will, and suffer needlessly, and as we follow her gentle prompts to make different choices, we begin to see that we can change just about anything in our lives by taking these small steps. Nothing could be simpler, and nothing could be more effective. Or as Karen Casey puts it, "Progress is guaranteed. Perfection isn't expected."
* Karen Casey's message is simple--show up, pay attention, and your world will change.

Guest Bio:

Karen Casey, Ph.D., a Naples, FL resident since 1991, published Each Day a New Beginning, her first book, in 1982. This daily meditation book for women in recovery has sold more than 3 million copies. The 25-year Anniversary edition of Each Day a New Beginning was released in August, 2006. It was closely followed by The Promise of a New Day, another daily meditation book for both men and women in search of serenity. It has sold more than 1.2 million copies. Following on the heels of these two books, Karen has written 18 additional books with more on the way. In April of 2006 she published ALL WE HAVE IS ALL WE NEED and she published three more books in 2007. SERENITY was released in March. BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE, in April and in the December, a companion book to ITS UP TO YOU: A PRACTICE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE BY CHANGING YOUR MIND.

Karen is married, a grandmother, a mediocre golfer, a fair bridge player, and a mahjongg enthusiast. She and her husband, Joe, own a home on Prior Lake which is adjacent to Minneapolis, and they recently built a log cabin outside of Lafayette, Indiana which is her home town.

Even more recently, Karen and Joe sold their Harleys. It was a hard decision. Karen loved the freedom of the ride, but lost a friend on a Harley a couple of years ago and Joe was nearly creamed on his bike last year in Sturgis. It simply seemed like a good time to let them go. They have not lost the desire for adventure, however, and Joe bought a small two-seater Piper Pacer airplane which they fly all over the country. Some might say it’s no safer than motorcycles but at least you don’t have to fight for space in the air like a Harley rider has to fight with cars and trucks on the road. Joe has even begun to build a small airplane. He expects it to be a 3 or 4 year project. For you enthusiasts reading this, it’s an RV9. You will know what that is. Karen will be the passenger. That’s all.

Karen’s love of writing began in elementary school but it lay dormant for many years. When she began working on her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, where she taught for a number of years, writing once again became her passion. Karen is also passionate about helping others in Twelve Step support groups where her own recovery from addictions began more than three decades ago.

She is also on the conference/workshop circuit and you can see where she will be in the coming months in the events section. If you or a group you represent want to plan a workshop with Karen, she can be reached at 239-398-6327 or by e-mail from this web site.

Well, as much as I had wanted to begin broadcasting The Catherine Bradford Show as soon as July 16th on LA Talk Radio, it appears that we are all going to have to wait for that DEBUT SHOW. I am hoping to have made it to the other side of these events within a short period of time, but until then, I am asking for your patience.  In the meantime, while taking this short and temporary hiatus from being on air live, I want to invite you to keep c...
