Carol Cassell Ph.D. is a nationally recognized leader in the field of sexuality and is well known through her nation-wide research work with the prestigious CDC (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She is a certified AASECT sex educator (AASECT is the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, & Therapists.) She is currently the president of the Western Region for the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.

Carol has written several books that have been acclaimed by USA Today to Psychology Today to the Journal of Sex Research. They have been excerpted in American And Canadian magazines, cited in the popular and professional press, and published in four languages: Swept Away: Why Women Confuse Love and Sex; Tender Bargaining: Negotiating an Equal Partnership with the Man You Love; Straight From the Heart: How to Talk to your Teenager about Love and Sex. She has also co-edited The Sources Book for Sexuality Education and written chapters in several books including the Encyclopedia of Human Sexuality. The audiences range from business and professional women's groups, civic groups (Junior League, Rotary), therapists, physicians, women's health care clinicians, mental health workers, educators, and academics in a variety of fields. She is a sought after consultant and has worked with Planned Parenthood, the Ben Franklin Institute, state and local coalitions, universities, hospitals, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and community-based organizations all over the country.

Respected and honored by her colleagues, Carol is a former President of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, and is a lifetime Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology. She has received every top honor in her field including a "Spirit of Service" award for her lifetime achievements in the adolescent pregnancy prevention; an educator's award for outstanding leadership in sexuality education; and, The Institute for Family Research and Education's Margaret Sanger Award for her work as an advocate for policies promoting sexual health education. She sits on the national board of directors of the National Campaign to Prevent Teenage Pregnancy, Healthy Teen Network, and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.

Recently, Carol was a Senior Health Scientist at the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine and conducted research on adolescents and high risk behavior. She is continuing her work with Critical Pathways, her consulting private practice.
