Freedoms

The word "Freedom" is often used to debate the actions taken by people and our government these days. People protest their right to 'Freedom of Speech' in our country. Governments justify acts of violence against others in the name of 'freedom', declaring it is something we must continually fight for. Most recently we find the world focusing on a case where information, obtained through unlawful means, was released through internet and media streams. Again we find ourselves considering our rights about the 'freedom' to speak as we see fit.
Our laws both protect us and hold us chained to outdated and arthitic concepts. The enormous strain of achieving true change is showering down upon people all over the world. Sadly, we continue to loose so much, human life, dignity, to gain what we imagine is rightfully ours.
We write and speak often, as a modern culture, about the 'shift' taking place in our world. We see oursevles for our potential and declare our commitment to acting in ways that demonstrate our willingness to live in ways that better quarantee peace, health and happiness for people everywhere.
And yet, our gains are often shadowed by the smudges of our inability to really incorporate our lofty ideas. History has shown us that during difficult times many do not make it, great loss of life oftens comes at the expense of furthering our evolutionary process.
There is much to consider, much to do and even more for which to stand up. I am hoping we can survive these difficult times, maintaining our balance long enough to reset the button for change. As we end yet another year, I am hoping we can begin again in the New Year, bringing our commitment to making our world a better place along with us.
