Remembering Mom!

Mothers not only come in all shapes and sizes, but the circumstances in which they become MOMS in the first place is remarkably varied. Whether you had a relationship with your mother or not, we all had/have one. Without them, we would not exist, so this Mother's Day, at least acknowledge them for their hard work of bringing us into the world. I am one of five girls and remember asking my own mother once, "Mom, why did you have soooo many kids?" Her answer was short and sweet, "Honey, it's because I loved being pregnant!" Seemed a reasonable enough answer when I was young. My mom died nearly 20 years ago, soon after I turned 40 and had been a mother four times myself. Whatever your viewpoint or opinion is about your own mother, becoming a parent definitely puts a fresh perspective on motherhood. Since the dawn of mankind, females have overcome enormous obstacles to conceive, carry and give birth to children. Sacrifice was common, and struggle was a natural part of motherhood. And so life continues, a result of women continuing to believe in becoming moms. The courage, determination, devotion and endurance women all over the world must possess in order to bring new life to this planet is undeniable.
And so, this weekend, no matter who you are, or where you might be, take a moment and give Thanks to Moms everywhere. They deserve it!
