Learning by Living

I learned something important interviewing Sharyn Wolf this past week (author of Love Shrinks: A Memoir of a Marriage Counselor's Divorce), something I had 'known' about and 'felt' but hadn't truly brought to light. Who we are here to BE in this lifetime, our passion and purpose CAN be manifested and demonstrated without necessarily hinging back or onto our personal journeys. We are all here, ultimately to learn about life, which is what we DO while LIVING IT! Mistakes are made by each and every one of us. Lessons are learned from our mistakes. One huge lesson is about forgiveness; forgiving ourselves and others. Judgement is another huge one. I believe Sharyn's personal story shows us all that we can be highly effective in our professional careers and yet struggle with our private lives. Sharyn's efforts to hide her failing marriage, worried that the world would judge her badly for not being able to 'practice what she preached' haunted her for years. How many of us 'hide' our truths from others, even ourselves, afraid of the fallout from judgement by others. It is time we all learned we are here 'to learn' and create environments that support our efforts, our mistakes and our hard work at learning. Thanks to Sharyn for her honesty and commitment to helping people in their most intimate of relationships.
